Devin Booker scored a season-high 40 points and Ricky Rubio added 21 points and 10 assists to help the Philadelphia Suns lead the Philadelphia 76ers to their first loss of the season, 114:109.
Aron Baynes had 15 points and scored three points, while Kelly Oubre contributed 14 points. The Suns were 53.2 percent accurate in field shots and secured their fifth win in seven games, marking the best start of a season since 2013/14.
On the other hand, Al Horford excelled for the Sixers with 32 points, 15 of which were from three-pointers. Tobias Harris contributed 24 points and ten rebounds, while Furkam Korkmaz added another 20 points. The 76ers played without their top scorer and jumper, Joel Embiid, who served the final game of his two-game suspension after a brawl with Minnesota center Karl-Anthony Towns last Wednesday. Kurkmaz was in his place.
Rockets 107, Grizzlies 100
James Harden scored 44 points and made ten rebounds to give Houston the win in Memphis.
Harden was the key player in the Rockets’ strong return, whose defense had suffered by an average of 126 points in their two pre-season games in Brooklyn and Miami over the weekend. Houston, playing for the first time this season without Russell Westbrook (break), received 16 points from Eric Gorgon and 15 points and nine rebounds from Danuel House Jr.
Bucks 134, Timberwolves 106
Giannis Antetokounmpo recorded 34 points and 15 rebounds as Milwaukee overturned in the third quarter and went on a bizarre delay to beat Minnesotan in Minneapolis.
Antetokounmpo, who was named Player of the Week in the Eastern Conference on Monday, was accurate to 14 of the 19 shots on the field in the game that began with almost an hour of delay after the heat revealed one of the bats was not right.
Warriors 127, Trail Blazers 118
Rookie Eric Paschal scored 36 for Golden State in Portland’s surprise victory, securing his first victory at his new stadium, Chase Center in San Francisco.
The victory ended the Warriors’ poor performance, having lost in the last four games against Phoenix, San Antonio, Oklahoma and Charlotte. Portland suffered only their second loss in five games as a guest.
Nets 135, Pelicans 125
Kyrie Irving scored 39 points and nine assists while helping six Brooklyn players reach double digits in points scored in the win against New Orleans.
