Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola says “the difference is big” but still believes his squad can capture Liverpool in the Premier League title race.
The City’s 2-0 loss to the Wolves at the weekend means they are now eight points away from the Reds.
It’s the biggest difference any team has had in their first eight games in Premier League history – the biggest previous one being Chelsea in 2014, winning the title.
“I know these guys,” Guardiola said. “They’re still great and they still know they can do it.”
Otherwise, Liverpool have won eight of their first eight Premier League games, creating a comfortable margin over second place.
