American boxer dies four days after injuring his brain during a match

Boxer Patrick Day has died at the age of 27, four days after suffering a brain injury during a match against Charles Conwell.
The American ended up in a coma after Saturday’s match after being knocked out in the 10th round of the duel in the middle professional boxing category in the US.

His promoter, Lou Dibella, confirmed that Day died Wednesday night surrounded by family, close friends and members of his boxing team.
“He was a son, brother and good friend to many,” he said.
Day was pulled from the boxing ring on the stretcher after the match ended and was taken straight to the hospital, where he stayed in a coma for four days before dying Wednesday evening.
