Eight points, that’s the difference between first place, Liverpool and second, Manchester City.
Man City has taken another false step, suffering a shock 0-2 home defeat by the Wolves.
However, despite Liverpool now eight points ahead of Man City, Virgil van Dijk does not want to speak for the title, insisting “anything can happen”.
“We’ve got a lot of points so far,” he told Sky Sports.
“There is always room for improvement in our game. We need to focus on the matches we have before and not look at the difference in points with others, including City. ”
“There will be hard times coming, for example December and January (it’s two months with many games) and I think everything can happen.”
Further Van Dijk talked about Man City’s surprise loss at home.
“I didn’t expect it, of course,” said Van Dijk, who has joined the Netherlands for Euro 2020 qualifying matches against Northern Ireland and Belarus.
“I think everybody was expecting a tough match for City, but when City play at home it almost never happens that they score at least one goal.”
“It was a fantastic performance by the Wolves, and you have to congratulate them. But they (City) will tend to come back from this. Until then, I have to focus on football with the national team.
