Portuguese Jose Mourinho was contacted by Lyon’s president Jean-Michel Aulas to replace Sylvinho as coach, but the former Real Madrid and Manchester United coach has declined the offer.
Jose Mourinho has refused Lyon’s offer to become the new coach of the French team. The club’s president telephoned the Portuguese last night, but his response was fast, reports RMC Sport.
Mourinho has been rumored for a possible return to Real Madrid recently, but news of a crisis inside the Santiago Bernabeu has been erased again and Zinedine Zidane still holds that position.
According to RMC Sport news, Mourinho turned down the offer from the Ligue 1 club because he has been eyeing a return to the Premier League, as his family is still living in London. For this reason, France are not currently a priority for the former Manchester United coach.
However, the same medium confirms that Aulas met with Laurent Blanc on Thursday to try to persuade former Paris Saint-Germain coach. He is the favorite to replace Sylvinho, who was sacked after just 11 games at the club.
After a good start to the new season with victories against Monaco and Angers, Lyon have already scored seven games without securing a Ligue 1 win.
