Media in Italy: Not Spalletti, but Pioli in Milan

Milan could now go for Stefano Pioli or a foreign coach after allegedly Luciano Spalletti is asking Inter for compensation for his dismissal at the end of last season.

The Rossoneri have targeted the former Nerazzurri coach to replace Marco Giampaolo, and appear to have agreed on personal terms.

However, the drawback has been the termination of Inter’s contract, given that he is under contract until 2021.

Initially it was thought he would receive only six months’ pay to escape the cyclists, however Sky Sport Italy and ANSA are now reporting that the 60-year-old is demanding a full annual salary.

This seems unlikely at this stage, so both sources claim that the ‘Devils’ are now looking at Piol or a foreign coach.

Pioli has previously coached Inter during the 2016-17 season and is among the candidates to take over Genoa.
