Kyrie Irving scored 50 points to break his record with Nets debut but lost the balance and missed a shot that allowed the Mennesota Timberwolves to win the game 127-112 in Brooklyn on Wednesday.
Karl-Anthony Towns scored 36 points and made 14 saves for Minessota, while Andre Wiggins finished the game with 21 points, including a very important basket near the end of the match.
Irving had the ball in his hands with the chance to secure a victory in his impressive debut. He let time pass and when the end approached he started the run but lost the balance near the three-point line. He came back dribbling and fired the ball, but didn’t score.
Irving broke Kiki Vandeweghes’ record for most points scored by a player in his first game with a new club. Vandeweghe scored 47 points for Portland on October 27, 1984.
