The reigning champion Novak Djokovic secured the spot in the Australian Open semifinal against Roger Federer after defeating Canadian Milos Raonic in an impressive performance.
The second-ranked player in the world rankings easily defeated Raonic in three sets 6-4 6-3 7-6 (7-1), despite having trouble with his eye during the third set, which he won with “tie-break”.
The Serbian, who is aiming for the eighth title of this tournament in Melbourne, has lost only one set so far in this edition of the Australian Open, making his good form clear.
The 32-year-old will meet Swiss Federer, who is ranked third in the world rankings in Thursday’s semifinal.
“He is one of the greatest legends of all time and the matches against him and Rafael Nadal have made me the player I am today,” said Djokovic, who has suffered just three losses at Melbourne Park in the last decade.
“I hope to have the opportunity to play at least once for a point to win the game and then let the best player win.”
